Jason and I have then been planning other ways to get the treatment needed. We decided to apply to the new insurances that are available to get a PPO, that way even though it would cost us thousands of dollars, the rest would be covered and I could begin to heal.
But .... In hearing back from the State of California Department of Managed Health Care the new plan is effectively halted. They said my best bet was to file a complaint against Kaiser for the surgery. If the State of California deems my surgery necessary then Kaiser will be forced to comply. I will have an answer within 10 - 30 days from the time of submitting my case. The State of California DMHC also warned against signing up for the Covered California Insurances for several reasons... one, being that many doctors are not yet accepting this insurance, also that due to computer glitches many people that legitimately need help are stuck in a mind boggling limbo waiting for treatment, and lastly that the insurances are radically different, for example Blue Shield PPO and Coveered California Blue Shield PPO would not provide the same services.
So, today I write two research papers: One explaining the necessity of the type of surgery/treatment that I am requesting and how or why Kaiser can not provide that treatment. And one explaining the pain and effect that my current condition is having on my life right now.
Please pray for my focus and for the resources to support my case be easily located. Pray also for the officials that will be deciding my case with the State of California and those that are still contemplating my case at Kaiser. Pray for my doctors at Kaiser not to take my request for outside surgery as a personal attack, as it appears is happening, but to truly be able to discern my need and struggle.
